12-Time Takes Hoosier Hustle
12-Time Outlaw Super Late Model champion Andy Bozell collected the victory in Saturday night’s Hoosier Hustle at Kalamazoo Speedway. Bozell started 8th and held off his son and fast qualifier Phil Bozell in a hard fought battle. JR Roahrig collected a third place finish ahead of Todd Harrington, who had his second straight top five. Tom Thomas rounded out the top five finishers ahead of Mark Shook, Tyler Roahrig, Rick Sexton, Jeff Bozell and Rick Senneker. Bill Tomlison and Dan Roodvoets picked up the heat race victories.
The Super Stocks saw a thrilling finish with Chris Shannon emerging on top. Defending champion Buddy Head finished 2nd ahead of Matt Corliss, Kenny Head and Jamison Russell. Brandon Lyons, who again set quick time, finished 6th ahead of Mickey Cornwell, Darren Lane, Eric McGlothlen and Luke Krick. Notable finishers included Jake Hopwood in 16th. Buddy Head and Tom Rutherford won the heats.
Brain Gerster set quick time and picked up the win in the Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Series Event over Ryan Litt, Troy Decaire, Jason Cox and Geoff Kaiser. JoJo Helberg, Aaron Pierce, Kyle Flint, Brian Olson and Jacob Wilson completed the top ten. Tom Tolbert, Jimmy McCune and Nathan Brevard won the heats while Helberg won the B Main.
Next up on the schedule is another Full 5 in 1 Show this Saturday, July 23. The Outlaw Super Late Models will be the featured event with a 50 lap feature event. Phil Bozell brings a 32-point lead into this Saturday’s event over his father Andy. Tom Thomas, perhaps the forgotten man in the championship battle, sits just 60 points back and ready to take advantage of any slip up the Bozell’s might make. The Super Stocks will also have a 50-lap $750 to win feature. The Modifieds, Pro Stocks and Cyber Stocks will complete the program.
