Bozell Outduels Head in Thrilling Super Stock Klash
Phil Bozell and Kenny Head traded the lead three times over the final five laps in a thrilling Super Stock Klash Wednesday night at Kalamazoo Speedway with Bozell emerging victorious. For Bozell it was his second win in the last five days, as he won the Outlaw Super Late Model feature last Saturday night. Brandon Lyons had a strong run to finish third ahead of Bryan VanZile and Chris Shannon. Mickey Cornwell came all the way from the last chance race to finish sixth ahead of Brian Ross, Chris Orr, Rick VanHouten and Toby Montgomery. Defending Super Stock champion Matt Corliss finished 15th. Tom Rutherford was the quickest of the 34 qualifiers while Justin Dinzik and Cory Kruzel won the Last Chance races.
Lloyd Brooks set quick time in Pro Stock qualifying for the inaugural Pro Stock Bash and had to start in 13th position for the 50 lap feature. Brooks methodically worked his way to the front and then held on to win over former Modified champion Brent Hook. Tyler Hufford had a strong third place run ahead of Travis Hall and Josh Coburn. Zack Cook led the second half of the top ten over Daton Wright, Bryan Noble, Todd Taylor and Matt Sullivan. Notable finishers included Ron Landis in 16th.
This Saturday, the weekly drivers have the night off and the “Crazy Stuff” returns to the Zoo for the first time in 2012. Bring on the wild and crazy Off Road Demo Derby ran in the infield of the Zoo, then throw in a round of Spectator Drags and a Burn Out Contest. Then how about a Garden Tractor Demo Derby on the front stretch followed by the insane Quad Wars and the Great Lakes Supercup cars. All this for only a ten dollar bill for adults and $5 for teens…but wait, what about capping off the evening with one of Kalamazoo Speedways world famous Fireworks Displays? You won’t find better family entertainment anywhere and remember all kids nine and under are FREE! See you Saturday at 7pm sharp!
