Kalamazoo Speedway to Experiment with Group Qualifying, Starting May 16th

Due to large car counts and a tight schedule, Kalamazoo Speedway officials have announced that starting this Saturday, May 16th the Outlaw Cyber Stock and Flip Flop Cyber Stock divisions will begin group qualifying through their practice sessions. For the time being the other four weekly divisions will continue the traditional single car qualifying format. NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Outlaw Super Late Models will continue to be the last group to qualify each week and will continue to qualify in the reverse order of their final practice speeds.

The way group qualifying will work is simple. Both Cyber Stock divisions will still get two practice sessions. After the final practice session the times from each session will be combined and each driver’s best lap will be their official qualifying time. Points will still be awarded for qualifying as usual and race lineups will be set as they always have, by qualifying speeds. Should a driver miss both sessions they will start at the tail of all their races that evening, just as if they had missed qualifying in the past.

Kalamazoo Speedway plays host to some of the best entertainment events in the state of Michigan, and welcomes corporate groups, family outings, suite rentals, and clean family fun. Call 269-692-2423 Monday through Friday to learn more!
