Kalamazoo Speedway To Host Five Pinewood Derby Events in 2012
Kalamazoo Speedway has a great way to get kids involved in racing. We also have a great way to get them off the computer, their video game system, or away from being in front of the TV. When’s the last time a kid went to a parent and asked if they could come help them paint a car or help put the wheels on out in the garage? This is the perfect opportunity to create that bond with your kid!
Speedway officials have announced the Kalamazoo Speedway Pinewood Derby Challenge. Five different races throughout the 2012 racing season will take place immediately following qualifying leading up to the 7 p.m. race time. Kids will bring their home made racecars up on the frontstretch grandstands, and race against other kids.
We will group cars together by weight, so finding a “gray area” isn’t going to benefit many. Kids will be racing for a trophy, a pop and a hotdog from the Speedway. Pinewood Derby kits will be available for sale at the Speedway if you are interested, along with using your local hobby store.
Our 2012 Pinewood Derby Dates are as follows:
May 26th
May 27th
June 9th
July 7th
July 28th
For more information, or to order a Pinewood Derby kit, contact track announcer Jason Seltzer at Jason@kalamazoospeedway.com. Approximate Derby times are scheduled for 6:30 nightly. Race time could vary due to unforeseen track circumstances during hot laps.
