Mini Stocks Get Hooked

(Kalamazoo, MI) The Kalamazoo Speedway played host to Team Spirit Trophy Night as all heat race winners were provided trophy’s courtesy of Team Spirit Trailers. The track played host to a big five in one show which featured the Cyber Stock Nationals for the Cyber Stocks, Mini Stock, Super Stocks, Pro Stocks, and Outlaw Late Models.

The Mini Stocks saw point’s leader Frank Stager set fast time with a lap of 14.790 besting the tight field of cars. The heat young 14 year old Noah Gallandt pick up the heat race win over Rick Gale, and Steve Potter. The feature saw a fast improving Rick VanCleve lead the first 3 laps before the biggest crash of the year eliminated Gallandt who crashed hard into the turn three wall landing on his side collecting VanCleve.  When the race resumed 14 year old Chaz Hook took command of the feature landing him his first career win followed by Steve Potter, Gale, and Matt Gross rounding out the top four cars.

The Cyber Stock Nationals saw Jack Cook set fast time with a lap of 16.568 besting a season high car count of thirty three cyber stocks. The B feature was the first event of the evening for the Cyber Stocks. Travis Krum pick up his second ever feature win over a hard charging Doug Nelson, Curtis Town, Jim Beers, Daelynn Post, Hal Ford, Joe Lambright, Adam Bistodeau, John Rousseau, and Keith Dunham rounding out the top 10. The A feature saw a first time winner Mark Campbell take the checkered flag over Felicia Meade, Tristan Crago, Dale Leonard, Jerry Jansen, Jr, Barry Jennkins, Matt Corliss, Wayne Stack, Brian Gregersen, and Nick DeLongpre rounding out the top ten.

The Pro Stocks saw Lloyd Brooks set fast time with a lap 14.653 seconds besting the biggest field of cars of the season. The heat races saw Jeff Bozell and Travis Hall pick up the wins. The twenty-five lap feature saw two Outlaw Late Models drivers join the field with Mike “Bubba” Brooks and Bozell join the cast of regulars. Brooks driving for Jimmy Wheaton picked up the feature win over Zack Cook, Bozell, Lloyd Brooks, Bob Metheny, Brent Hook, Travis Hall, Keith Wilfong, Tyler Hufford, and Tommy Wright rounding out the top ten cars.

The Super Stocks saw Kenny Head pick up fast time with a lap of 13.514 besting the field of seventeen cars. The heat races saw Jake Hopwood and Dave Simpson pick up the wins for the evening. The thirty-five lap feature saw fast qualifier “Mr. Smooth” Kenny Head drive to the front picking up the feature win over Ryan Wheeler, Chris Shannon, Lindsey Katz, Chris Orr, Brandon Lyons, Kelli Jo Hofacker, Simpson, Matt Corliss, and Matt Frazier rounding out the top ten.

The Outlaw Late Models saw Brian Bergakker set fast time with a lap of 12.333 seconds besting the field of stars who invaded the world’s fast short track. Luke Krick and Rick Senneker took the heat wins. The fifty lap feature saw Bergakker finish his dominance of the evening picking up the win over Krick, Andy Bozell, Mark Shook, Randy Chupp, Billy Shannon, Mike “Bubba” Brooks, Jeff Bozell, Senneker, and Dan Roodevoets rounding out the top ten. The feature win saw Bergakker cut into the points lead of Andy Bozell setting up an exciting finish to the 2012 season for the month of August.

The Kalamazoo Speedway will be blazing into the month of August with a big five in one show next Saturday night featuring the Outlaw Late Models tuning up for the Kalamazoo Klash, Super Stocks, Pro Stocks, Mini Stocks, and Cyber Stocks with a 7pm sharp start.
